I just had a glimpse of my past blogs in a Filipino website where I used to wrote before as a writer...Just want to share with you some of my "thoughts" that I wrote there...........enjoy reading!
2008 was a great year to remember and to live over and over again. Like 2007, great decisions were made on this year, a lot of new things happened, a lot had been accomplished. Each month has fond memories to recall but of course I have my own favorites! But I can share to you the flavors of each month!
January 2008 – It's my first new year away from my family as I was still in Singapore during this time. New Year in Singapore is not as big as what we have here in Philippines. Fireworks can only be seen in Esplanade and for those who wants to experience the fun you need to travel down the city, go to Marina and join the big crowd and witness together the wonderful lights in the air. Well, as for me, guess where did I celebrate New Year then? I was at the restaurant ( Pizza Hut Jurong Point ) my workplace, counting stocks! It was a big day for me there! Counting stocks for the year end inventory! Hahaha! It wasn't a big day of celebration for me as I was alone. At 12 midnight, I remember reminiscing how New Year spent in the Philippines. Aside from the “NO CHICKEN ON THE TABLE” policy, I miss the local fireworks we used to have. “Watusi, Lusis, Trumpillo, Fountain, Kwitis” I missed the jumping at 12midnight for you to become taller ( those who didn't do this before misses the fun of New Year! ) , there was no “TOROTOT” hahaha, I wasn't able to hear car owners blowing their horns when the clock strike 12! I bet, if this is being done in Singapore it's very exciting and nice to hear, you know why? Because everyone in Singapore has the same time in their watch! If it's 12 midnight in a Singaporean's watch it will definitely be 12 in my watch too, simply because everything there comes on time! MRT, LRT, bus. They never change their timing schedule! So if you will be late by one minute in the bus stop you will surely miss the bus and wait for the next one to come. But even though these things are not done synchronal in the Philippines, iba pa din sa PINAS! Kahit na 1155 palang sa Relo ko at 12 na say o ok lang! Basta New Year na!
February 2008 – A dying Valentines day in Pizza Hut! Dying because it was a very busy day in the restaurant! Singaporeans loves to celeberate V-day! And because we have a heart shaped pizza in Singapore, everybody orders for it! I was doing morning shift then but I stayed until very late because of the influx of people in the restaurant! What a terrific day for sales but a tiring day for us. I remember at 8pm we already stopped selling heart shaped pizzas because we ran out of heart shaped dough! At first we ran out of strawberries ( pizza ingredient ) then the dough! WheW!
February 9 is my first year in Singapore too!
March 2008 – March is a “so-so” month for me there in the Singapore. This month I became quite busy because I will be on a vacation the following month. I just wait for each day to pass waiting for April to come!
April 2008 – My much awaited vacation finally came. It's Jamil's 2nd birthday that is why I decided to go for a break. This is the first time that I will be celebrating my son's birthday because I was not around during his 1st.
This is the same month I had my hair repaired! HAHAHAHA! Hair rebond in Singapore!
Same month I lost $350 HUHUHU before my vacation! I lost it in the restaurant I think! God bless the culprit! It was already returned to me a hundred fold!
May 2008 – This is the month that I made a great decision! I finally decided to go home for good and be with my kids and my husband. It was the same month that I asked the permission of my boss POY about my decision of leaving. It was a very hard thing to do as I am thorned in two things that I love to do, to be with my family and to stay at my work! But as we always say, we cannot have the same face of a coin. We need to choose one! And I chose to be back home!
June 2008 - It's my birthday month. It was the same month that we had the beach day at East Coast with my Pizza Hut Colleagues. After the beach day, we celebrated my birthday there and received my biggest surprise! It was a water bomb party for me! I never had such birthday celebration before! All of us were damn wet! Whew! We stayed in the place overnight and went for a birthday breakfast at McDonalds in Tampines with my staff! Reached home at 10am and slept the whole day because Leila and Jessica are both working! Sleeping on my birthday! HAHAHA
9pm Leila asked me to go out with her and we both went at Orchard. She treated me for a birthday dinner at our favorite hang out, SWENSENS! Jessica wasn't able to join us because she was working like shit then in the restaurant!
July 2008 – July 3 was my last working day in Pizza Hut. I remember the heavy feeling when I started to turn off the lights when I was about to go home! Good bye Pizza Hut! It's not only goodbye Pizza Hut, but it was goodbye Singapore too! This is the same month that I flew back to Philippines for good! Home at last!
July 15 Cebu Pacific flight 5J802 from Singapore bound to Manila 1055am – I am going home for good! A lot of tears were shed during this day. Some of colleagues sent me to the airport, bidding our farewells. It was a mixed emotion for me then. I am happy because I am going home and be with my family in a few hours and sad because I am leaving a family too in Singapore! But life must go on for both all of us!
Oh I went to Kuala Lumpur too with Jess and Leila!
July 29 – New life, New career! I was hired by a Language Academy as an English teacher to Korean internationals! It was a humbling experience for me then as I am to start a new career as a teacher and at the same time worked in a different environment. It was a decade working in a restaurant and now I am in an Academy! Wow!
August and September – I am continuously enjoying my life as a teacher, a mother and a wife. I am having a simple life with my family, going out on weekends and holidays! Yes it was simple but those are the days that I've always dreamt of when I was still away from them.
Students are growing in number. I am starting to build good relationship with my students and had been investing in my emotional bank account with them! Each day is a fun working day!
October – A better opportunity paved way in my career. Another company opened its doors to me and again another big decision was done. I joined Executive Optical as a branch manager. Another different kind of business, different career. But I dared the challenge! It was quite difficult at first because it's all about learning and relearning! Well just to give u an anecdote, Do you know why I took up Accountancy in college? It's not because I like it, nor I love math. It's not merely because of numbers, it's not about better future ahead of me, it's not about fame if I pass the licensure exam, but it's because it has LESSER SCIENCE! Hahaha! I hate SCIENCE! But now that I am in Executive Optical I need to love it! Because it's Science! It's about the eyes! Challenging? Oh YES!
November – Oh! It's Family Day for Rain! Its our second year of Family day with Jamil. November 2007 I was also back for vacation because of Rain's Family day in School. It was fun as we expect it to be! Jamil enjoyed the carousel ride and Rain enjoyed a lot as well! Great day for the whole family!
December 2008 – It's another Christmas with the family! And it really feels good! Wonderful feeling! But I got my knee broke! I was hospitalized on the night of Dec 20 because I had a great fall when Rain jumped on me during the community Christmas party! But a broken knee cannot stop me from celebrating! December is always festive in our family because aside from Christmas, 2 special persons are celebrating their birthdays! Rain and my mom!
2008 will always be one of the greatest year of my life! I would be glad to live it again if given the chance. I will live it the way I lived it before! I will not change a single thing! Blessings were overflowing! Blessings that are not bound to perish! Blessings that will live forever! Friends, families, new acquaintances, being of service to others! And because these new things are happening in my life now, whenever I get up each morning, I would look in the mirror and say,
“ I am valuable, I am loved. God has a great plan for my life. I have favor wherever I go. God's blessings are chasing me down and overtaking me. Everything I touch prospers and succeeds. I'm excited about my future!”
But of course it cannot be called life if it is as beautiful as it can be. Of course there had been mountains of trials! But I can say that with my experiences before and the great change that I had in understanding the word “maturity” helped me to live life! I learned to speak to my mountains! Maybe your mountain is a sickness, perhaps your mountain is a troubled relationship, maybe your mountain is a floundering business. Whatever your mountain is, you must do more than think about it, more than pray about it; you must speak to that obstacle. Start calling yourself healed, happy, whole, blessed and prosperous. Stop talking to God about how big your mountains are, and start talking to your mountains about how big your God is!
A lot of people caused me hurt, but I leave it to God. I told myself, “Reggie, live a life of forgiveness! Don't go around trying to pay people back, trying to get revenge.” I know that God sees every wrong that's being done to me. God sees every person that has ever hurt you! He's keeping the record, and if we don't avenge ourselves, God will pay us back! And friend, He'll not just pay us back, He'll pay us back in abundance!
LET'S ALL HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
